Belmont, Lower Hutt
Belmont is one of the two dojos or training locations of the Riai Aikido Wellington school. See the Riai Aikido Wellington page for details, including our common fee structure. Members of the Riai Aikido Wellington School can attend classes at either of its dojos.
The Belmont Dojo is located at Belmont Memorial Hall (next to Belmont School). As with all our dojos, we offer dedicated adult beginner classes and general classes for more advanced students.
The Dojo provides a safe, fun and friendly environment for students to learn Aikido. Our focus is on cooperative training in a non-competitive and supportive environment. When you train at the Dojo you will be expected to follow the Dojo Etiquette which will be explained to you on arrival.
Aikido is more than a self-defence system. Training in Aikido improves coordination, balance and posture; stimulates the mind; builds self-confidence; improves flexibility; builds “core” strength, and lots more.
Anyone wishing to try aikido is most welcome to come along to three free classes.
The dojo endorses the Aikikai Foundation Code of Conduct.
If you are interested in Aikido, beginner classes provides an excellent opportunity to attend classes that are for people with no prior experience in Aikido. Come join the fun.
Block 25 lesson beginner courses run several times a year but beginners are welcome to attend classes at any time throughout the year. We offer a free trial period (three lessons).
The next block beginner course commences soon. Course cost $100: see the Introduction to Aikido flyer.
